Pharaohs Cruise Line Makes Bold Move in Baltimore — Big Changes Ahead

Exciting news for Baltimore cruisers! Pharaohs Cruise Line, a rising star in the cruise world, is shaking up the Port of Baltimore with some major changes set for late 2026.

Pharaohs Cruise Line Bids Farewell to Baltimore (for Now)

After years of smooth sailing, Pharaohs Cruise Line announced it will relocate its flagship vessel, the Nile Majesty, out of Baltimore starting in October 2026. The ship’s 3 day cruises from baltimore will set sail on October 17, 2026, marking the end of an era.

The decision comes as the Nile Majesty—a modern mid-sized ship—is looking to expand to a new homeport in Fort Lauderdale, where it can tap into warmer waters and longer itineraries.

Why the Change?

Like many ports along the East Coast, Baltimore faces some challenges when it comes to accommodating larger ships. The low-clearance Francis Scott Key Bridge and Chesapeake Bay bridges limit access for the newest generation of cruise vessels, pushing Pharaohs Cruise Line to seek alternative ports for future expansion.

Carnival Cruise Line Stays Strong in Baltimore

While Pharaohs sets sail for new horizons, Carnival Cruise Line continues its deep commitment to Baltimore. The line recently renewed a five-year agreement to operate from the port through 2029, with plans to introduce a larger, Conquest-class vessel to handle increased passenger demand.

Infrastructure Improvements on the Horizon

The city and state are working on a long-term plan to replace the aging Francis Scott Key Bridge, a process underway since mid-2025, expected to complete by 2028. This new bridge will hopefully allow larger ships like Pharaohs’ Nile Majesty to return in the future.

What It Means for Baltimore Travelers

  • Pharaohs fans will need to plan for departures from Fort Lauderdale starting late 2026.

  • Carnival lovers have more reason to celebrate, with bigger ships and enhanced amenities coming to Baltimore.

  • The port’s safety, convenience, and regional accessibility remain top-notch, making Baltimore a prime choice for East Coast cruisers.
